Just unlock the phone and let people use it as an iPod or no phone; though I know they both have a lot invested in this partnership.  I'm betting it will be sold (next Gen) with other carriers next time around anyway?  Or are they locked in with ATT for more than a year?

I think they have a contract until 2009. After 09 then there is a possibility of seeing other carriers.

Since they are branching out in so many areas (including WiFi iTouch iPod), they are soon to be experiencing the exposure that MS has for so many years.
