There is some good news for TIVO fans.
They finally got their act together and implemented the IR codes needed to change channels on the UVerse STB!  Smiley

The IR codes are included in the IR code library 243 (check your System info).
If it's not updated yet, force a connection to service, so it will download the new codes.
You can then either go the automatic route by choosing the Motorola box and have your TIVO go through the testing or you set it yourself in advanced mode (10081).

There have been some problems for some people, some use 10081a, for me 10081c works.
Also, the setting how many digits are used to set the channel differed (for me 1 digit worked, for others 3 digits). You do have to select "yes" when asked if the enter key is needed.

Biggest issue was the location of the IR receiver. It wasn't at all where I thought it was (on the right of the STB, left of the menu button is a hole I thought housed the receiver), but instead it is located on the left between the power button and the USB port. When locating the IR blasters there, a few inches in front of the STB, it worked flawlessly for me!

It took a while, but now my beloved TIVO is back in action. Grin

This is good news! Grin  I don't have U-verse installed yet, but I did have a concern of how it would cooperate with my Tivo.  Now, I don't.

Well, that's where everyone tried to set up the IR blaster, but it didn't work. It DOES work when you set in in the location I described (between power button and USB port).

So am I to understand that TWC/Comcast users with Tivo, can now switch to Uverse?  Is the Tivo fully functional?

Yes, as of yesterday, it can change channels on the box, which is the only thing I was missing for full functionality of my TIVO.
TIVO was very fast in getting the Uverse lineup up for my area, once I asked for it when I was installed.

SO I do have the correct lineup and the TIVO can control the STB, ergo I have my full TIVO service back!  Grin

If you know you want to get Uverse and have a TIVO, try to get the channel lineup for Uverse before you're installed and make sure that TIVO either already has it listed for your area or request them to add it (I had to fax them the channel lineup). That way you are ready to go with your TIVO once you get Uverse installed.

I can second this good news.

Have two Tivos now fully operational.

though, i will warn anyone not on the tivo forums - the ir transmitter has to be close to the power button and out about 3 inches or so to work.

Kind of funny the IR blaster will not work while right in front of the IR receiver, but it works away from it, not even in direct line of sight.

I'm happy that U-verse now works with Tivo but it's not quite perfect. Sometimes, the Tivo can't seem to input all the channel numbers I'd punch in. For example, putting 453 ends up being 45 or 43. I have the IR blaster as far out front from the "sensor" as possible but it misses the numbers sometimes and channel up/down doesn't seem to work very reliably either. I assume the "sensor" is the dot that's to the right of the power button. What's the other sensor (next to the record light) for then?

However, all this may be moot since I could record up to 4 shows at the same time with the U-verse DVR. I don't know why I would need to use the Tivo except to record a 5th show or just make sure I didn't waste my money on the thing in the first place.

Thanks for the info!

I think the problem you are having with the IR is because the STB is just plain slow. I have the same problem with the remote control that came with it. If I enter the numbers too fast it doesn't catch them all. The Tivo might be sending the commands to the STB too fast.

Good news!

Here's my setup- something to pay attention to- don't change the channels too fast on the TiVo because there's a built-in delay before the IR sends it out to the box. Otherwise, it works great and makes a nice add to the U-Verse box.

Total time, about 15 mins.. thanks for the tips!

I have 2 Tivo boxes and can confirm it works.  My channel line up is not exactly right but it is 95% right.   U-verse would not be worth it without Tivo. The Uverse DVR still seems several years behind Tivo.  You can only watch the program on the TV with the DVR it's the slowest thing I've seen in years and it does not interact with your Mac or PC at all.

When I get home late tonight, I will take out my camcorder and see just what is behind the plastic over by the power button.  I remember seeing two 'dots' on either side of the LED array, but nothing was in them.

The STB is just too darn slow. Even with the U-verse remote, it's still got a delay picking up what I'm entering. I think I will call U-verse tech support to see about switching out the STB.

OK, I just took several pictures of the entire front of the unit, seems it is by the record LED.  There is a little indentation by the power button, but I doubt it is an IR receiver.
