Article: Pair bonding is being deployedPair bonding was originally expected to be deployed in 2008, but it is finally here now. It will be deployed across the entire U-verse footprint and it will add an extra 1000-2000 feet to the reach of U-verse. Currently it will only be used to enhance range and not speed. Care to give us some details on distance and speed that bonding was able to achieve?

I've done a few, and have seen some really good max rates. I know the article says the reach will go 4500ft, but the other day I had one at 4650' with a max rate of 54.5Mb, so there seems to be plenty of bandwidth. what's odd is the individual pairs sync at higher rates when the card is programmed for pair bonding. I had one that said it was at 4000' but because of the cable ga. Change it was closer to 5000ft, each pair synced at 26.5-27Mb so that customer had over 50Mb at that distance, amazing! Now this is what Uverse should've always been.

I am really happy to hear this is finally being deployed. I was sent a letter that Uverse was available at my house just South of Austin last summer. Unfortunately, the techs that came to my house told me that I was too far from the VRAD. They mentioned that Pair Bonding was being tested, but weren't sure when it would be fully deployed. My address still shows that Uverse is not available on the AT&T website, but there are houses on my street that are 'green'. Hopefully this will allow me to switch carriers and drop Dish Network. I've had no major issues with them, but when there is heavy rain or thunderstorms the signal cuts out. It would be nice to have a more reliable service with all the cool Uverse features to boot.

Does anyone know if existing installs using the 19M profile will be upgraded with the iNid and pair bonding so they can use the 25+M profile? I am 2900ft and almost didn't get uverse but they were able to sync using the 19M profile. I would like to have the 25Mb profile for faster internet speeds.

From what I have heard they eventually plan on switching everyone on the 19meg profile over to the iNid.
Keep in mind, however, that the iNid is still new and just like all new technologies, the price at first can be quite steep. I'd expect within 6 months to a year, when the price stabilizes a bit, that we will see a lot of these things going up.

The company isn't just gonna make trips out to swap gateways for iNIDs on services that are working and are already in place, that would be a nightmare on their part. Ugrades will bring it. If you wanna find out if pair bonding is available to you now, call and order Max 18 Internet, this is only available on 25/32Mb profiles. If they give you an appointment for a tech to come out, then you are getting an iNID. Likewise AT&T likes to advertise alot so if you start getting emails/snail mails/ door hangers/ salesmen etc. Then you know you can get it.

was set up for uverse installation on tuesday and the technician said I was still too far away and that I should call in, cancel my original order and set up a new install date with INID. Did that and after 2 seperate calls, no one on the other side of the phone has ever even heard of INID. This whole process has been about 1.5 years now where they guarantee I can get service, get out here then can't do anything and just leave me in the lurch without any service. Didn't have any choice other than to parlay my quiting Directv into a new total home DVR for free and stay with them.
Would love to give ATT a chance, but they seem to really want to sell to areas they have no capability of providing service to.

But at the same time, I could see ATT going with only Inids in the future. Having that equipment on the outside of the house would probably save them quite a bit of money on scheduling installs and service. The inid can be installed without a customer having to be home and any kinks can be worked out before inside rewiring is done.

Since training on the damn things back in Nov 08, I have not seen an iNID
And I'm guessing they will just magically show up @ the shop someday, and managers will say "You guys were trained! So what if it has been 2 years since you have seen any of this?!"

Nothing that diffrent, you do have to enable ATA through SCANR to activate voip. You don't need a home run for inside unit(s). BBU power runs off CAT5, each line will sync at anywhere from 8.5mb to 12.5 Down and 800k Up, for a combined 19/1.5 or 25/1.5Mb profile. Max rates on individual pairs up to 35Mbps, they move the upstream on bits loading Down to 6-32khz, Cpe realtime will show stats for lines 1 and 2, insertion loss, active line noise and bits loading all dive at about 3750khz. Syncs faster. Basically it's everything uverse should have been from the beginning.

my first iNID instl took 8hrs,
Wasted 2.5hrs waiting on IM (lineman) 2nd pair had trouble. Wasted 2hrs acquiring a new power adapter, first one was defective.
As mentioned above, the individual lines sync up on JDSU @ 13 & 19 megs, but once combined each line on my iNID was providing more than my JDSU would lead to believe. Combined my Sub had 50megs!!!

Multichannel news As I have said before, we work for a salesman. The sales manager is over your first and second line. Would a man that makes his money on sale of uverse, be worried about speeding up the people he already has sold and gotten paid from? Or would he drop his efforts in selling to new people? we are reaching 30 million homes possible...we currently have 2.3 million. The future for us all is going to be P2R...... Think.....Whats cheaper An aggressive ad campaign contracting out door to door salesmen Pressing the workers to sell for No added cost at all and GAIN with the chance of firing them, and rehiring a lesser paid new worker? What I just told you is the future. Wait on it. Right now managers push it without merit...They are just pushing people so THEY can get p2r numbers up for their garages...its not an at&t requirement...but with only 2.3 sold in a 30 million potential sales invironment, and their product becoming KNOWN for freezing due to Their crap plant, Bad Installs, and Refurb equipment...what do you think is gonna happen? Theyre gonna NOT blame themselves for JACK CRAP...so drop the bad plant problem because those are their old I&M friends...no pressure on them. Refurb equipment saves them money...so NO pressure or change there.. that leaves.... AHHHHH those DIRTY TECHS!!! SCREWING UP MY INSTALLS!!! FIRE THEM!!
