I was cleaning out the attic yesterday and found a long-lost treasure box full of baseball, football, and basketball cards. Thousands of them! Most go from 1988 thru 1991, but some go back into the early to mid-70s. Found an autographed Don Mattingly, Barry Larkin, and several signed Garland Boyette Houston Oiler cards. Got quite a few old Oiler cards (Curley Culp, Elvin Bethea, Zeke Moore, Dan Pastorini) and a '79 Earl Campbell All-Pro card. A ton of big name rookie cards from the 1990 era.

Also found a 1984 Sports Illustrated with Walter Payton on the cover (1984 MVP) and several Sports Illustrated magazines from when the Rockets won back-to-back titles in the 90s. Tons of newspaper articles from The Houston Post, too.

Spent all day today building an Excel spreadsheet, documented the first 400 cards and barely put a dent in the pile. I haven't even opened the stuffed duffel bag yet.  Shocked

Sounds like retirement is rewarding.  Your wiring job and now this find. Enjoy.

I've never been big on the trading card stuff... the ones I found were my stepson's from back in the 80's. Never knew what happened to them until this past weekend.

After I've documented what's in the collection, I'll shop around and see what I can get for the whole lot. Maybe go out on ebay and see what some of the more desireable cards are selling for individually.

You could save them and give them one or two at a time to the grandkids when and if the would enjoy them.

That's a pretty good idea... but grandkids are still a long way off.  Wink
