I will start by saying so Far UVERSE is pretty Good for Me. There are a few features that Can be added.
1.Channel Guide in Memory for Up to 7 days. It would be nice if the Guide was Cached onto the Hard drives or Memory of the Uverse Boxes. This would also speed the Uverse Guide Up. I do understand that it has infinite ability for Guide information (can download from the net) but most TV watchers look out one week at a time.
2. Auto Tune Feature would be nice. Every station doesn't have to be recorded by DVR this could be a good feature on the NonDVR units. It would be nice if the Channel would Automatically tune to the station of choice set in the channel guide or a reminder. This feature would also be great for DVD-Recorders and those who still use VCR's.....

I would so love the ability for an auto-tune feature!! I'm really surprised it's not there. On my Dish Network box, I'd set up the living room receiver to auto-tune to what my sons watch in the morning. Also, the way I've been watching on Dish, I'll see an upcoming movie or show and then set it for auto-tune so I don't forget to change the channel. Why couldn't this have been automatically included? =-/

This is one of the few things I miss coming from Dish.

I haven't heard a whisper of it. To be honest, I'd never even heard of such a thing until I saw this thread.

I'll second missing this feature coming from Dish! I like to watch GMA in the morning, and would like to just hit power and voila!

Comcast's Guide also had no provision to go backwards (for prior shows), which would be nice if you saw a show and forgot its title. TitanTV's free listings keep them for a week or more.

I also am hoping for auto tune. I had it on my DirecTV HD receivers, and like the option to watch a program without being forced to record it, what with the limited, non-upgradeable hard drives we have...

Another previous DirecTV user who is happy with U-Verse, but would be happier if they add this. (if you don't post, they don't know and won't find it cost effective to add)

I believe features like this one will be available in the new Media Room platform from Microsoft.....AT&T will be using this at some point, who knows when though.

I am quite the opposite, I have had that mode on cable for a while now and it has been more annoying than useful, think about it, your favorite show come on in an hour, so you select it to auto-tune when it comes on, you watch something else until the auto-tune takes effect, and whatever you were watching get's really good, you get into the current show and don't think about the one on auto-tune, ...then BAM, channel changes, and instead of going "yes, finally, my favorite show", you go "hey, I was watching that", it'll feel more like your sibling/significant other just took the remote and changed the channel, you really want that? The whole reason of having a DVR is so you aren't television dependant, and you can finish shows you were watching

Mikedamirault, I dont' know about your cable box but on DirecTV autotune would warn you 60 seconds ahead of time for the change. All you had to do was select cancel on the channel change confirmation. As long as they implement it that way it'd be a useful feature.

I guess that makes it more useful/less annoying, but what if you can't find the remote right then? also, even the notice can be annoying/startling

Also it works great if you want to use a dvd recorder or vcr to record a certain show.
