Mikedamirault, I dont' know about your cable box but on DirecTV autotune would warn you 60 seconds ahead of time for the change.  All you had to do was select cancel on the channel change confirmation.  As long as they implement it that way it'd be a useful feature.
I guess that makes it more useful/less annoying, but what if you can't find the remote right then?  also, even the notice can be annoying/startling

Sure, but wouldn't it be better to have the option and not use it, than not have it at all?  Also it works great if you want to use a dvd recorder or vcr to record a certain show.
I could live without the functionality personally, that's why I have/will have a DVR, so I can just watch it later, plus anyway, if i wanted to change channels, I could just do so manually

I guess if it's a feature you really need/want, try to request it, but it's not my deciding factor for switching to U-Verse or not

Another vote/bump for auto-tune.  With cable I got used to having the TV serve as an alarm clock in the morning, automatically turning on to the news.  My Samsung has a wake timer, I just need the STB to be able to turn on and tune to the correct channel.
