How To Upgrade Your DVR Hard Drive |

So you think the 120 hours of SD content your U-verse DVR holds is not enough. Or maybe you want more than 24 hours of HD recording. Well, thanks to U-verse member koolkid1935, you don't have to settle for the storage that AT&T provides any longer. Continue reading for a quick tutorial on replacing the hard drive in your DVR.

- Unplug your DVR from the power outlet and disconnect it completely from your TV.
- Unscrew the 3 marked screws. Slide the top of the case toward the back of the unit and pull up.

- Unplug the molex power connector and the IDE ribbon cable.

- Unscrew the 4 marked screws to release the HDD tray and pull it out.

- Unscrew the screws holding the HDD to the tray (4 total, 2 on each side).

- Replace the HDD with a new one and reverse the process.
- Restore power to the DVR and wait for the gears to appear. Please note, this step may take some time as it not only has to re-download the software, but the hard drive also has to be formatted. The amount of time it will take depends on the size of the drive.
