I created a page in the WIKI for those in Wichita who want to start hunting VRADS and other WIKI content local to Wichita, Kansas U-verse.

mylocaluverse Kansas Wichita

For content ideas, you can check San Jose and Houston .

My Service should be installed in about 2 weeks, so it appears that there are a bunch of installs scheduled. The price is much better than Cox.

What part of town are you in? I have repeatedly checked my address (119th S of Kellogg at Pawnee) where there are multiple VRADS and I get no service available.

Put in service addresses near the VRAD in all 4 directions. It's possible the VRAD isn't live yet. Check the VRAD and see if the power meter is spinning. Even when the power meter is spinning, it can sometimes be months or even a little over a year bevore the first person gets service from the VRAD.

If you do find someone with service from the VRAD, check addresses between you and the VRAD to see how far the service is available. If you find that your neigbors on both sides of your house and across the street all have service, then it's likely that you should also and there's just a database error.

More than likely at this early (relatively) time on the Kansas deployment, the VRAD isn't providing service to anyone yet. Keep checking though. Sometimes they go live and they don't always notify people when it becomes available.

Check out the WIKI as I posted above and share information with your fellow Kansonians? Your best source of coming availability is each other. Add new Kansas cities to the WIKI as you need. AT&T won't comment until the service is actaully available to you. Given the unpredictability of getting permits and scheduling all the work to put a VRAD, there's some logic in them not commenting on  dates that they can't guarantee for availability.

It's "Kansans" and "Wichitans" Much simpler, rolls off the tounge. :-) Anywho, My neighbor across the street was cleared to have U-verse installed and he is FURTHER from the nearest V-Rads, so I can't seem to understand the deal here. We have a Family friend that is doing Marketing for U-Verse, so I will get a call out to him soon so we can figure this out soon. And it is a no brainer for us at this point, our Cox internet Service has been out for the 4th time this year, and is currently on its 4th day being out. Their response it that its "Our Problem" and a Tech will come out "Soon" Forget it, as soon as we are eligible, we are out, Cox 's days of being the only ones are numbered.

Check the addresses of the houses on either side of you on your side of the street. For that matter, go ahead and check the 10 nearest houses since it won't take much time to check on the website. If the houses on both sides of your house ont he same side of the street have U-verse available, then you should to and there must be some sort of database error that needs to get corrected.

It's a good sign that your neighbor across the street has it, though it's possible that your side of the street and your neighbor across the street are fed from different cables.

Thanks for setting me straight on "Kansans" and "Wichitans"! I don't know what I would have come up with for people who live in Wichita! Smiley Smiley

I just ordered uverse and the soonest install date is Dec 23, 2008. That is almost 2 months away. Any one know why it is so far out?

I called and found out that the install date was due to the fact that cox cable would not release my phone number until that date. So, I changed my order to have a new phone number and it bumped my install date up to 11/19. I am really looking forward to check out this service. It kind of upset me that cox would do that, but oh well.

The news of them adding those new HD channels next week is even better.

Hope everything goes well.  Smiley

THDVR is suposed to be up and running here in Nov. so YAY!
