In 2Q U-verse added 170,000 new subs, which is up from 148,000 in last quarter.  This brings the total number of subs to 549,000.  U-verse now passes 11 million dwellings in 53 markets.  AT&T is still on track to pass 1 million subs by end of year, but to do that they need to average 200k installs for the final two quarters.

2HD roll out will completed by the end of the 3Q.

Total Home DVR in trials and will have full roll out end of year.

Going from 148,000 new subs to 170,000 new subs is an 15% increase in the growth rate, if this rate continues in the next quarter then it will be at 195,500 new subs added in the 3rd quarter of 2008 and if it continues then the 4th can look like 225,000 new subs in the last quarter which will be more then enough.

AT&T Investor Update, 2Q08 Earnings Conference Call, July 23, 2008

Slides (pdf) Slide 16:

• Network deployment now reaches more than 11 million living units, service available in 53 markets

• More than 10% penetration reached in established market areas in less than 12 months

• On track to reach target of more than 1 million subscribers by the end of 2008

• Average install times down nearly 15% since 4Q07

• 2nd HD stream migration to be completed in 3Q

• Total Home DVR in trial phase, full rollout by EOY

Hehe, well if they committed these things to investors, even under "safe harbor", that means they have to happen right?  Wink

If you look at where there are in subscribers, and 2 HD streams it looks like they'll hit those goals. So the Total Home DVR full rollout by EOY (End Of Year, 2008), seems pretty likely, or maybe a quarter later, still good news as far as service enhancements go.

It would be nice if they had a plan for increasing Internet upload speeds to 8+ Mbps for those who want it, say a 15/8 Mbps Internet option but they still continue to be limited by the 25/2 Mbps profile to the VRAD with each service having essentially a static bandwidth allocation. Maybe next year...

Ps. Thanks uverse for posting the 2Q 2008 results. I don't routinely hunt for them, so it's very convenient to see your post and follow the links to all the material!

I am glad that AT&T is up.

But they better fix the problems that they are still selling as if there is nothing wrong with the service.

Simply put AT&T is collecting money from all of their customers with defective product which is fraud!!!

So maybe AT&T will get this message or the FTC will.

What exactly is defective?  I would say the server pretty much works as advertised.

THE AUDIO OPTICAL HANDLED BY THE MICROSOFT TV2 CLIENT VERSION: 1.2.43048.3 (RELEASE) HAS NOT WORKED SINCE LAUNCH, AND EVEN NOW IT WILL NOT WORK CORRECTLY UNTIL MAYBE 1st QUARTER OF 2009 PER MICROSOFT WITH RELEASE OF VERSION 1.6.3 CLIENT (EMAIL FROM TIER 2 SENT TO THEM AND THEN ON TO ME)
THIS CLIENT IS ON ALL MOTOROLA STB/DVR BOXES AS WELL AS THE CISCO BOXES.

HD/SD HAS PROBLEMS THAT CAN BE SEEN ON TOSHIBA TUBE SETS RUNNING HDMI 1080i, FLAT PANEL 1080i AND EVEN AT A U-VERSE RETAIL STORE HERE IN ST. LOUIS **NOTE THE ONLY ONE IN THE ST, LOUIS AREA WHERE YOU CAN SEE THE SERVICE** AND IT IS RUNNING ON A DELL FLAT PANEL WITH RGB ANALOG IN USING 1080i.

I HAVE BEEN WORKING WITH AT&T FOR MORE THAN TWO MONTHS ON THE HD/SD PROBLEMS TRYING TO REACH THE R&D PEOPLE WHO HAVE NOT RESPONDED TO AT LEAST TWO EMAIL ATTEMPTS BY MY TIER 2 SUPERVISOR CONTACT.

THESE PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN WITH THE SERVICE SINCE THE PRODUCTS LAUNCH.

WHAT I AM SIMPLY SAYINGS IS THAT AT&T IS CHARGING CUSTOMERS FOR A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT WHICH IN SOME CASES WILL NOT BE FIXED MAYBE UNTIL 1st QUARTER  OF 2009 AND THE HD/SD WHO KNOWS WHEN.

THIS IN MY OPTION IS FRAUD!!!!
WHICH I BELIEVE IF PRESENTED TO THE FTC WOULD SERIOUSLY GET THEIR ATTENTION AND THEN DEFINITELY AT&Ts.

SINCE YOU ARE AT&T U-VERSE I AM SURE YOU CAN REACH ME IF NOT THERE MUST BE A WAY THAT WE COULD CONTINUE THIS CONVERSATION IN A MORE PRIVATE VENUE.

HaveGunWillTravel,

First I am not affiliated with ATT in any manner.

2ND, it sounds like you are having problems, but in order for it to be fraud there has to be wide scale problems and that just dos not appear to be the case.   And it also appears they have plans to fix your optical problems.  And in my experience ATT has been quite generous with service credits when things are not working properly.   But it sounds like you will be much more content to take another service until ATT can works these small issues out.

IF you want to continue this conversation, you are welcome to give me a pm.
