Do you plan on keeping Uverse for football and basketball season?  Others may not be having this problem, but the picture quality is absolutely horrible during any kind of fast motion on the screen.  Basketball games are the absolute worst.  The Big Ten Network I've noticed has the worst picture of all the channels.   I currently have a 32" Sony Wega HD ready TV.  I've already had my place wired with CAT5e and have had technicians out three different times now to try and resolve the picture quality issue.  I think it might be due to the fact that ATT compresses the picture too much.  Anyone know if this will get better?  Has anyone else had the same issue and been able to resolve it?  I don't want to go back to comcrap, but being able to have a decent picture for football and basketball games is at the top of my list for TV service.

Why wait every 8 minutes to see the stupid Local On The 8's. When you can just go to your computer or download an application and see the weather in less than 8 minutes.

Do you mind telling me what area you live in?  I've already had technicians out several times and they haven't been able to do anything.  The last one to come out said it was probably radio interference.

When I first got Uverse, I really noticed the picture problems with fast action.  You're right, basketball was pretty bad - Jason Kidd is pretty quick, but I don't think he breaks down at the molecular level when he drives the lane.  Smiley
It has improved quite a bit since then.  I don't have HD, but noticed the other day I had the 2/2 profile with the higher bandwidth cap.  Maybe that helped?  I was originally on the 3/1 profile.

I also noticed a post in the employee forum that said if you have a electonic component too close to the RG, it would cause picture problems.  The TV in my daughters room is only about a foot away from the RG (but separated by a hollow wall).  I'm going to try moving the RG a few feet away, but I can't seem to remember to bring my patch cables home.

Is there a way to tell which bandwidth cap I'm on?  The RG is across the room from the TV so I don't think there is any issue with interference from electronics.

from your remote - menu/options/system settings/system information/system resources

It will say number of IPTV streams (2/2 or 3/1) unlees you're spd, then you have 5/0.
The higher bandwidth cap is 29900000

So is anyone else having this type of issue?  I'd like to know if this can be fixed and I just haven't had the right tech come out yet, or is this just how the picture is going to be when watching fast sports.

I live in the Detroit area. When I first had U-Verse I had a very choppy picture after the first 3 weeks (sports were really bad. It was kind of like what you were saying). I called one tech out he changed some settings on the computer and said it could be because we were 3,030 ft. away from the VRad and they recommended 3,000 ft. and I'm probably the only person on my block who can get U-Verse.

What he did (change the settings) worked for about a week, and then it started doing it again. So we called them out again (U-Verse that is), and the tech change these nobs (I don't know what they are called) on the thing that connects to the receiver's I think in my basement.

He said when the installer installed U-Verse he left the knobs of when I had cable on. He said that could of cause the picture to pixelate and freeze and stuff. He also said they were very lose as well. So he got new knobs and tighten them very tight on the receiver thing and all is working well ever since then. That was a very long time ago as well.

Sorry I don't know what the thing is called that the knobs go on. I think someone else might though.

The installer and both techs we all very nice. They were out right away, and the last installer left their number for their cell phone so if it happens again to call him directly so he can come out faster. They were all awesome.

If I were you I will ask for another installer to come out and tell them to check to see if you have the problem I was having because it sounds like almost the same issue..

I hope this helps, my picture in SD and HD are so much better than when I use to have cable. I'm so amazed of what it looks like. Sports are outstanding as well in HD.

Thanks for the reply.  Although I'm getting tired of having techs come out, I still have a feeling it can be resolved if the right technician comes out.  The last guy that came out basically just checked the connections and hooked the RG up to a computer thing.  Everything checked out ok and even though the picture still looked horrible, he just said "must be some radio interference, sorry.."  Then supposedly sent someone out to do some grounding on the lines, but I haven't noticed any difference.  I figured ATT would have taken it more seriously as I called to cancel and then ended up agreeing to let them send a tech out one more time.  I'll give them one more shot, but its going to be the last one.

You will never be happy with the HD until Uverse gets serious about it when enough customers begin to cancel. Actually, you are the first that I know of on this forum to say Comcast had a better picture. WOW! Shocked Shocked Shocked Timewarner kills Uverse in the HD dept. That is fact. You can have 100 techs come out and it will make no difference. AT&T has to stop compressing the hell out of the signal and improve the codec (the way the signal is encoded and decoded). Until they resolve these things, your HD experience will suck with Uverse. Don't listen to the Uverse lovers on here that claim they are getting this OTA quality HD. They will drive you nuts. Try to get a good deal out of it before cancelling though. I had to REALLY think hard before deciding on $50 a month (with internet) for dismal HD service or $80 a month (with internet) and excellent HD with Timewarner. I chose the former for now...
