Hey techs...I was told today that a "fiber line loop link" had to be upgraded before I can get the 2nd HD feed even though I have FTTP. Did someone just feed me a line of BS? The sales lady was talking to tech support for about 20 minutes and confirmed the 2HD profile is available but my bandwidth cap is limited to 20950000.

I may just be a Prem (installation) tech, but I think you got fed a line (I could be wrong)... "...You should call (800) 980-4910. That is THE number for all types of AT&T FTTP, U-verse or not." - http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r20499814-St-Louis-MO-Area -- quoted from PeteB's post at this link. He got a hold of a special customer service line specifically for FTTP. So give that number a call and see what happens... Fiber Line Loop Link? Would that be the ONT (Optical Node Terminal)? I do not even know what they are talking about...

Ok I found someone that knew what they were talking about. Sometime between now and June 5 they will be upping the bandwidth cap and then the profile can be pushed.

I remember reading some of the other FTTP customer's posts and they said T2 was able to up their cap to accommodate the 2/2 profile.

Why not just give the FTTP people 5/5 so they will never want to leave ATT for another service ever.

Because the FTTN folks would get jealous and burn our houses down!

Yeah, it is a load of BS. It has to do with the profile, compression, and them flipping a switch to get you your 2HD/2SD. In some areas they should be going live with 2HD/2SD. Some should be live already.

It's not BS. Do the math, and 2HD alone uses 12+ Mb/s - using AT&T's statements of 6 Mb/s bit rate. This is also just the video bit rate, not audio, nor DRM, nor IP overhead. If you add in 2SD, Internet, overhead, etc., and it seems 20Mb will be tight. However, it does appear that not all areas have 2HD. I got it about 3 weeks ago in San Antonio.

Actually, the throughput tests I did were from the switchport on my switch, which includes everything going to the STB.
