Article: 2HD/2SD is rolling out now! [script type=text/javascript] digg_url = http://www.uverseusers.com/content/view/181/8/; digg_title = 2HD/2SD is rolling out now!; [/script] [script src=http://digg.com/tools/diggthis.js type=text/javascript][/script] calebthegeek is reporting that he now has a 2HD/2SD profile on his u-verse setup. It appears that St. Louis will be getting this profile first and it will roll to other markets over the next month or so. His IPTV cap has also be increased to 29.9 meg from the current 20.9 meg profile. I am going to assume this means the RG cap has been raised as well since this is 5 megs above its 25 meg cap. In other new San Antonio officially has U-bar and Flickr.HPNA 3.1 has been certified for 2Wire's VDSL2 iNid.

Next month May, or next month June? (Technically it was still April when you posted)

This is great news. After hearing about it for the last year, my patience were growing thin.
Now, if we can get one of our Uverse employees to shed some light on the rest of the rollout schedule? Will we all have it within a month or is it taking a month for just the first few cities?

They will probably take just as long as they are with the U-bar, which correct me if I am wrong, is still in the process of being deployed.

Better late than never, I suppose. Kudos to At&t for finally rolling this out..should make them at least an option for those who actually make use of HD programming in more than a ultra-casual manner. Too little, too late for me in particular unless they come out with something that REALLY dazzles and impresses, but then I'm harder to impress than most it seems :p
On a related tangent, the Uverse HD demo at the at&t store in Austin is still a macroblocked mess (the side-by-side display next to the satellite feed makes it glaringly obvious). Maybe they'll fix that next?

So far, the roll out in St. Louis is faster than expected (based on what I was told when I called them last night). I got it this morning with no action on AT&T's part. They claim it's going to each video server location in turn, so once it's updated, a bunch of people get the new profile. There is no reason this should take more than an hour to do, nationwide... hence, it will take a year. It's pretty low risk for AT&T so I don't know why they don't just do it in that hour.

So does this mean that WHDVR is on it's way? The service people at AT&T that I've talked to made it sound like this was a hand-in-hand thing. One could only hope

This all sounds rather exciting. But, has anyone seen the quality of the HD channels yet? Are they equal to, or better than, the single HD channel? Lately my HD channels (in CT) have looked somewhat better (I'd say within the past month or so). Maybe AT&T has switched to a better codec w/ less macroblocking (yeah, there's still some showing up) or maybe it's because I made the switch over to HDMI cables.
Lets get some honest HD opinions here!

michigan may be getting it soon because my whole service went out for about 15-30 minutes last night around 2:30am Et. and I guess it went out the night before at 1:30am Et. as well. So maybe we are about to give it. I did hear that St. louis had a lot of outages before they got 2HD so maybe this is a good sign. I hope so.

Why wait every 8 minutes to see the stupid Local On The 8's. When you can just go to your computer or download an application and see the weather in less than 8 minutes.

I'm assuming WHDVR will never happen so that I'm not disappointed Way too many rumors and nobody wants to talk about it to the investors on they last conference call... that cannot be a good thing (it may be neutral, but it cannot be good).

Just checked this morning, and we are still showing 3/1, but we are FTTP here in St. Louis, so it may be a bit.

Funny thing last night, when the sirens went off, we turned on the TV downstairs which was on the same HD channel as the one upstairs (that we left on). Both played in HD but the system still says we are 1HD/3SD. My location is South Overland Park, KS.
Have noticed that the HD channels look better lately and macroblocking is less. Only real issue is the audio using HDMI. The echo during commercials when they blast the darn things is very noticeable. May consider going to Component unless this changes.
Otherwise we have been very pleased with the U-Verse. Much better than Time Warner or Everest. Now if only they would let me get the one channel I am missing on my plan that I want (CNN-International) without going up to the next level...
