You can now complete the triple play in Detroit by adding the 1000 minute plan for $10 or the unlimited plan for $20.  Hopefully these prices will spread to other markets where the voice product is available.

Dude, the 99 dollar bundle is freaking cheap!  That's 6 bucks a month cheaper than my current services, plus an upgrade to 3 Mbps!

My question is why is Detroit so special.  I don't understand how they could suddenly reduce the price so much, I can't imagine it spreading from Detroit... I sure hope it does though!

Maybe they realized the current prices did little to entice people to switch from pots.
Maybe it is just a temporary promotion.
Maybe they realize wireline is going to be second chair to wireless.
Maybe they kept the initial prices high to limit demand while they worked the voip bugs out.

Err I knew I should of waited for a better deal. I was paying too much for my old pots line now with this I am paying to $20 much for my VOIP line.

It would be nice if they just dropped the voip cost more in line with other providers. I do understand that ATT offers a premium voip services.

This is more in line with what it should have been.  I wasn't interested in the hassle of another install just to save about $5 a month..  This potentially is 20-30 in savings.. Though Smart too I might up my internet service so they get a little money back again.

The price in the Detroit market is low, due to the fact that in MI, at&t has lost more phone line than any area in the USA. Thiis phone price is for new uverse orders.

I just called and added the promotion to my existing package. I can confirm that it is, indeed, for new and existing customers. However, if you currently have service you will need to call a different number other than the one listed on the promotion site.

I called and inquired today.  The service $10 for 1000 and $20 for unlimited is available to existing customers.  But, they wanted $99 to install.  I told them no, and they moved it to $50.  I still told them no.  I don't have phone service (home) at all now, and this was going to be a nice-to-have.  They lost a revenue stream over a stupid install fee

Thanks - running Vonage now, but $20 / month savings sounds attractive.
Will give a call & see what they say....

I was paying $114.00 for u-200. 1000mins of phone and the 1.5 internet. I called about the $99 deal and it took 5 different people( and 45 min total hold time) to get an answer in the end I'm getting the u-200 1000 phone mins. and 3.0 internet for $89 per month, and I was told the price is on going. It was worth the hassle.

No hassle at all when calling about U-Verse VOIP deal - only a bit of a delay: Was told "VOIP ONLY" installs only take place during AM hours & earliest available install date was Jul 11.

Was also told there would be "No Charge" for having the service installed - but a Tech HAD to come out to the house to set things up. (Is there more to U-Verse VOIP than simply plugging phone wire into RG? Once AT&T has things set up in their system, of course...)

Of course, we will be a new VOIP customer, so perhaps that makes a difference.

BTW: was also told that 2HD Service would ALSO be effective as of Jul 11th. Have only 1 HD TV, and thus far only ONE time where it would have been NICE to record 1 stream & watch another (at same time...), so did not bother pushing for an earlier date....

If you are in Metro Detroit (served out of the Detroit VHO), you should be able to call 800-ATT-2020, ask for U-Verse Sales, and get the 2 HD/2 SD profile pushed as of now. Other users in the Detroit area have reported success in getting the updated profile, so that means the Detroit VHO has been upgraded to allow the profile. So if you want 2 HD before July 11th, just call and ask.

Did you place a Block on Telemarketing on your line?  If not, try it: has substantially reduced the amount of calls we get.  No difference before or after U-Verse, and cannot imagine Why there would be - although it IS election season, so have received a bunch of poll / please vote for calls....

First line on u-verse is a free install the second line is a $25 service call. Lady said before it was $99 now its just $25 to turn it on. What i dont under stand is why they need to send a tech to my house. The second is $20 but the lady gave me a $10 service credit on internet for long as i keep my u-verse account. I have the Elite package i was paying $40 then i got a $10 credit because or the price drop of $35. Now i get another $10 service credit on the internet so i only pay $20 for the elite switch isnt all that bad.

Nothing anyone can do to help you.  AT&T doesn't pre-announce availability, so about all you can do is keep checking.
